[Remote] Board Member, Finance Position

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Ruff Start Rescue is seeking passionate professionals to join their Board of Directors as a Board Member in Finance. In this role, you will strategically govern the organization, support staff and volunteers, and make a positive impact on the lives of animals in need.

Responsibilities

  • Attend and participate in monthly board meetings, and other Board development activities
  • Attend at a minimum, two volunteer events annually (volunteer appreciation and donor fundraising events preferred)
  • Attend a transport event at the rescue location in Princeton, MN
  • Actively participate in one or more committees of the board
  • Provide feedback and input to committee reports
  • Show passion in furthering the mission of Ruff Start Rescue® and be informed about the organization’s mission, services, policies, and programs
  • Assist the board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities by ensuring adequate financial resources; oversee financial and risk management
  • Participate and support any capital campaigns, including making a personal annual financial contribution and assisting the organization in finding additional donation sources

Skills

  • Background in finance or accounting, 5+ years of experience
  • Knowledge of financial statements, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting practices
  • Familiarity with audits, internal controls, and financial oversight
  • Experience with Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to support financial strategy and ensure fiscal responsibility
  • Term Length - 2 years w/option to renew
  • Time Commitment - 4-6 hours per month (depending on areas of expertise, committee assignments, etc.)

  • Participate and support any capital campaigns, including making a personal annual financial contribution and assisting the organization in finding additional donation sources
  • Experience with nonprofit financial policies and reporting
