[Remote] Forward Deployed Engineer - AI Logistics Platform Leader

Andiamo is a globally recognized staffing and consulting firm specializing in technology placements, and they are seeking a Forward Deployed Software Engineer to work on mission-critical systems for defense and logistics. The role involves direct collaboration with military logistics users to design, build, and deploy software solutions that enhance operational efficiency and decision-making in high-stakes environments.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with end users, mission stakeholders, and internal teams to identify operational problems and translate them into practical software solutions
- Own features and systems end to end, from early prototypes through production deployment, field testing, and ongoing iteration
- Build across the stack, contributing to frontend interfaces, backend services, integrations, networking components, and performance-critical systems
- Integrate software into existing technical environments and ensure solutions perform reliably in demanding real-world conditions
- Collaborate with engineering, product, design, operations, and mission teams to prioritize work and drive complex initiatives to completion
- Instrument systems, monitor performance, investigate issues, and improve reliability through thoughtful debugging and iteration
- Make pragmatic tradeoffs between speed, scalability, maintainability, and mission urgency
- Travel approximately 25% to support deployments, field testing, customer engagements, and hands-on user feedback sessions
Skills
- Strong software engineering fundamentals with the ability to build reliable production systems
- Experience working across multiple technical areas, including full-stack development, systems integration, networking, or infrastructure
- Ability to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with minimal supervision
- Strong ownership mindset and comfort being accountable for high-impact technical outcomes
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical users
- Practical engineering judgment, especially when balancing urgent operational needs with long-term system quality
